2006 FIFA World Soccer Cup Celebration

On July 9, 2006, over 12,000 fans filled with Forza Azzuri (Blue Force) pride and solidarity, flocked down to Little Italy to watch the Italian National Soccer Team; Forza Azzurri, defeat the French National Team for the 2006 FIFA World Soccer Cup; a phenomenal game that went into overtime. Organized in just four days, the Little Italy Association in conjunction with community members raised over $20,000 to pay for a 24-foot monitor to be placed under the Little Italy Landmark Sign so fans could gather outside in the san Diego sun and cheer their team on.
