69th Infantry Division

Activated May 15, 1943 and trained for combat at Camp Shelby, Mississippi under the command of Major General Charles L. Bolte. Embarked for combat duty under the command of Major General Emil F. Reinhardt. Engaged the German forces at the Siegfried Line February, 1945. Crossed the Rhine River March 27, 1945 capturing the cities of Kassel, Hann, Munden, Naumburg, Weissenfels and Leipzig. On April 25, 1945 patrols from the 69th Division met in the first historic link-up with the Soviet Army at the Elbe River, Germany. Deactivated September 15, 1945 Camp Kilmer, New Jersey.
