49 Fourth Street

On this site, the famous β€œ49 Fourth Street” location of the United States Selective Service Induction Center, tens of thousands of San Franciscans and other Northern Californians were inducted into military service during World War II under the Selective Service Act of 1940. They served their country well. . This historical marker was erected in 1989 by The American Legion

Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Amvets and Military Order of the Purple Heart. It is in Yerba Buena in San Francisco City and County California
