1958 The Orinda Library

The Orinda Library began as a branch of the Contra Costa Library in 1915 with a small collection at the Orinda Park School (current site of Wagner Ranch School). The 4 x 4 bookcase was moved to the old Orinda Store, Firehouse, and Orinda Community Church where the collection grew. A library building was first constructed in 1958. The current complex, built in 2001, includes a bookstore, art gallery, meeting rooms, plaza and café. .
